Redline RL240 owned!

Ever since I last sold off my Haro Master , I haven't been into BMX for some reasons. Maybe because I'm busy shifting house and work all at the same time or simply can't find the time to go back to My passion. I've sold many BMX parts during this time, thiNking that I won't be touching another BMX.
But than, one fine day while scootering around the neighbourhood with my kid, I noticed a BMX tucked between some old, abandoned bicycles. For the next few weeks, whenever I drive pass the place, I will take a peek, hoping to see the bike ....Maybe moved to another bicycle lot or at least changed position. This means someone is actually riding it. My curiosity got the  better of me and I decided I have to go and check out this BMX.
On closer inspection, it's a Redline! A RL 240. Can you imagine the exuberating feeling I got when it's all original, right down to the pedals!
Wasting no time, I quickly wrote a Note and stick it to the bike, hoping the owner will contact me and willing to sell it to me.
Weeks has passed and no one called. Then one afternoon, a private number appeared on my phone. I answered it. "Hello." "You want to buy my BMX ah?" The rest, like they say, is history...

NOS Apollo Kuwahara, Blue....FOUND!! (again) :P

As I've promised the buyer of my Red Apollo, I'll try my best to find another Apollo for him. Guess he is one lucky fellow. Lo-and-behold; Blue Apollo, NOS of course.

Original Promax seat
Original OGK grips from Japan
Serial number at the BB
Well crafted rear drop outs

This is the only part about this bike that I don't like; the seat post and clamp. Cheap material. Maybe to keep cost of production to a minimal?

UKAI rims

Original Dia Compe brake caliper

Bike all tied up and ready for a new home...bye~bye
Bike have since been sold to an avid collector of vintage/old school BMX up North.

Just an update, the bike's now in the hands of a true vintage BMX collector up North. Going to miss Apollo. But at same time, I have another lead for a BLUE Apollo. NOS. This vintage BMX thing have gotten me all fired up recently. Went to several LBS and did some research. NOS Kuwahara Apollo, Red, FOUND!!

Found this NOS Kuwahara Apollo in an old bicycle shop in a corner of Singapore. The uncle says nowadays nobody appreciate 'these' vintage anymore. But that doesn't mean he's willing to let me have it cheap! :P Still, I decided to grab it!

The decals still nice and intact.

As I couldn't find the original pedals, the boss decided to replace it with a MKS model.

The original brake caliper looks weak, so I decided to swap it with a NOS Dia Compe MX. Cost me SGD$90 per set. But well worth the price as it's compatible with the oiginal colour scheme.

The skin walled tyres are surprisingly in excellent condition, given that it's been stored in a tropical climate. Pump it up and it's ready to tear the gravel to pieces.

Nice headbadge. Riveted of course.

All ready for some real action down memory lane....

NOS Kuwahara Laserlite found!

Went JB again to hunt for vintage finds and guess what I found! NOS Kuwahara Laserlite!! Stillunpacked and has all the factory packaging and protective papers wrapped around the frame!
Grab the bike and paid the boss immediately, even though he charges me quite high for it. You don't get bikes like this in such prestine condition everyday,ok. Sped my way back to Singapore, smiling all the way....

Diacompe brakes and original brake pads...

The stamp of a genuine product..

Araya rims...

Sugino crank set. After 20 plus years in storage, the chrome is still excellent, given that the bike is kept in a danity shop house in a tropical climate.

The coverted Laserlite...

As-is condition. All wrapped up,waiting for a new home..

Latest update. The bike is no longer with me and has found a new home! Sold to an avid collector of Old Skool BMX. Bye~bye bike Kuwi...gonna miss you..

BMX revival...Old Skool

Kuwahara...the name that spells competition, winning and championship! This is a MUST HAVE for all growing up tweens in the 80s. I too was one of those Alphaville loving tweens who crave so much to get hold of one.

What is an old skool BMX without one of these? Sugino crank set is another MUST HAVE...

This magazine have been with me all this while. All seasoned due to countless reading and do you know the age of this mag? Make a guess.... "P
